Pre-Vis Moot Conference "Soft Law in Arbitration: Concepts and Examples" (22 marzo 2024, Vienna) - Information & Registration

PRE-VIS MOOT CONFERENCE 2024: Soft Law in Arbitration: Concepts and Examples

Date: Friday, 22 March 2024

Time: 11:00 - 16:15

Venue: Juridicum, University of Vienna, Schottenbastei 10-16, 1010 Vienna, Hörsaal U11

Fees: 50 €, registration required

Party-autonomy and broad discretion of the Arbitral Tribunal are traditional hall marks of arbitration. Over the year the number of soft law codifications trying to harmonize important areas and providing guidance and certainty to Parties and Tribunals alike have increased in a way that has raised questions as to the usefulness of some of the instruments for arbitral proceedings. The conference will address the underlying concepts of soft law and some of the most relevant examples.

Speakers:

Prof. Andrea Bjorklund (McGill University, Montreal) Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Franco Ferrari (New York University, New York City) Prof. Dr. Stefan Kröll (Bucerius Law School, Hamburg) Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Paul Oberhammer (University of Vienna, Vienna) Prof. Marco Torsello (Verona University, Verona)

The event will precede the 31st Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
