Biography
Paolo Pinto is a Postdoctoral Reseaercher in Comparative Public Law (assegnista di ricerca) at the University of Trieste (Italy) with a research project conducted in scientific collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative. His main areas of interest include climate-environmental law, energy law and administrative law.
Paolo earned his PhD in European and International Legal Sciences from the University of Verona, where he defended a thesis entitled “Law and climate-ecological sustainability: energy, climate and environment in the governance of complexity” (Tutor Prof. Matteo Nicolini).
During his doctoral studies, Paolo had the opportunity to 'broaden his perspective' with a period at the Italian Constitutional Court – where he was selected for a training internship.
Furthermore, during his PhD, Paolo has been a Visiting Fellow at the Institut des hautes études internationales of the Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas and at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability of University of Groningen.
Background
During the university, Paolo studied as an Erasmus+ exchange student at the University of Bergen (Norway) and he also attended the Columbia Summer Program in American Law in Amsterdam (Netherlands) during the summer.
Paolo graduated with honors in Law (combined Bachelor's/Master's degree) from the University of Padua, where he concluded his studies in 2018 with a thesis in Public Law.
In 2018, he attended the Summer Course in European Union Law at the Academy of European Law of the European University Institute of Florence.
In 2020, Paolo obtained a first-level university master's degree in Environmental and Land Law from the Department of Economics at Ca'Foscari University (where he won the merit scholarship from the Director of the Master's program). In the same year he qualified to practice law.
Before starting his doctorate, Paolo worked at Studio Legale Domenichelli e Associati (a law firm specializing in administrative law). He has also been a member of examination committees (i.e., subject matter expert) at the University of Padua for the teachings of Constitutional Law, European Environmental Law and Public Law Institutions.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of the legal journal “Le Regioni” (ed. Mulino) and he also volunteers at P.O. Croce Verde Padova.
