This dissertation explores the issue of State’s secularism in the light of the mutual influence and interplay between different legal traditions in Israel and Turkey: The Western Legal Traditions, introduced in both countries by means of circulation of models, legal transplants and 'cultural borrowings'; and the Jewish and Islamic legal-religious traditions.
