The project’s objectives are threefold: firstly, to provide an excellent and innovative environment for the training of a group of highly skilled early stage researchers (ESRs) with transferable, interdisciplinary skills in the context of international personal career development of ESRs and preparation to work in different sectors connected with self-medication and OTC drugs. Identified individual PhD programs and network wide collaboration will focus on key issues supporting responsible self-medication with the following objectives: (1) Preparation of frameworks, instruments and strategies for educational activities aiming to increase health literacy of OTC drug consumers towards responsible self-medication; (2) Human and social capital building and enhancement for independent evidence-based research on self-medication and OTC-drugs. In addition to the above, the project’s objectives will provide strong foundations for self-medication - related policy-making and European contribute to improved health literacy across the member countries consumers and is consistent with the EU Concordat and pharmaceutical health policy.
