Finanziato su bando FEDER-UCA18-10549 da Feder Andalucía alla Universidad de Cádiz, Departemento de Derecho, il progetto ha i seguenti obiettivi:

The main purpose of this project is the study of the possibilities of carrying out an open interpretation or an attenuated application of international public order, with the purpose of promoting social inclusion and achieving an adequate degree of integration of Islamic citizens in Andalusian and Spanish societies and, in general, in the so-called Western societies as a whole.

The raison d'être of this research has its roots in the multicultural reality of Spanish society today, in which nearly two million Muslims already live, of which more than 300,000 live in Andalusia. The encounter of such different identities - derived from the Muslim and Christian cultures - is sometimes conflicting. The study of the relationship between Islamic identity and public order is fostered by the coexistence of people with different ethnic, cultural, ideological and religious profiles, who have to be treated by our legal system in accordance with the principle of equality and the rest of constitutional values.

Islam should no longer be considered a transitory phenomenon, understanding that the existence of Muslims is temporary in Spain and in the rest of Europe, quite the contrary. But this consolidation of the Muslim presence in European societies raises in them some legal problems that derive from the Islamic tradition of considering the religious condition as a source of civil rights.
